May 22, (THEWILL) — UK authorities are investigating the deaths of three Nigerian-British sisters whose bodies were found in the sea near Brighton Beach on May 13, 2026.
The sisters, Rebecca Walters (31), Jane Adetoro (36), and Christina Walters (32), were from Uxbridge, West London.
They had traveled to Brighton for a night out and went down to the beach in the early hours. Investigators believe the sisters may have gone into the water to paddle or wade, not realizing the beach drops suddenly into deep water, especially during rough conditions.
Emergency responders recovered their bodies early in the morning. Authorities said there is no evidence of foul play or criminal involvement, and rough sea conditions may have contributed to the tragedy.
Their father, Joseph, described his daughters as the family’s “strength, joy, and beautiful light” and said losing all three at once has left him “heartbroken and overwhelmed with grief.”
Police are reviewing hours of local CCTV to trace how the sisters ended up in the water and have asked anyone with information about their movements near Madeira Drive on Brighton seafront on May 12 and 13 to come forward.
