March 28, (THEWILL) — Tiger Woods has been charged with driving under the influence (DUI) following a rollover car crash in Jupiter Island, Florida, on Friday afternoon.

Woods was arrested at the scene and later taken to the Martin County Jail. He was released on bail in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police also charged the 50-year-old with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test. The offences are classified as misdemeanours.

According to officials, Woods showed signs of impairment. A breathalyser test was negative, but he refused to provide a urine sample. Officers described him as “lethargic” at the scene.

Reports said Woods had been driving at high speed and was attempting to overtake a truck when his vehicle hit a trailer and overturned. No injuries were reported.

Woods recently returned to golf after months of recovery from injury. He played earlier in the week in the TGL finals with his Jupiter Links Golf Club team.

This is not the first time Woods has faced a DUI-related incident. In 2017, he was arrested in Florida and later pleaded guilty to reckless driving. He was also involved in a serious crash in 2021 that left him with major leg injuries.

Authorities say investigations into the latest incident are ongoing.
