May 08, (THEWILL) — President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Mrs Arinola Ogbara-Banjoko as a Non-Executive Director representing Lagos State on the Board of the Nigeria Commodity Exchange under the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment.
The appointment follows the exit of Mrs Bamidele Hussein, who previously served as Lagos State’s representative on the board.
Mrs Ogbara-Banjoko is expected to contribute her wealth of experience and professional expertise to the strategic direction of the Exchange, particularly in strengthening its operations and supporting ongoing reforms aimed at improving Nigeria’s commodities trading ecosystem.
President Tinubu had earlier, in April 2026, reconstituted the board of the Exchange, appointing Dalhatu Abubakar as Chairman alongside other Non-Executive Directors as part of efforts to reposition the institution for improved performance and efficiency.
According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President expects the new board member to play a key role in advancing the Federal Government’s agenda of deepening commodity trading, enhancing market access for farmers and investors, and stimulating broader economic growth.
The statement further noted that the administration remains committed to strengthening key economic institutions and expanding opportunities within the agricultural value chain through improved market systems and governance structures.
