Tinubu Doesn’t Really Trust Me – Cubana Chief Priest Opens Up On Political Shift

Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest

May 20, (THEWILL) — Nigerian entrepreneur and socialite, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu does not fully trust him because of his past support for Peter Obi during the 2023 presidential election.

Speaking in a livestream with popular streamer, Peller, on Tuesday, he said, “Let me tell you, as I am now, Tinubu doesn’t really trust me as an Igbo man. He looks at me with one eye. He is still like ‘this one that has worked for Peter Obi before.’”

Cubana Chief Priest admitted that he supported Obi in 2023 but switched to Tinubu because he believes Obi cannot win the 2027 election. “I worked for Peter Obi in 2023, but I had to abandon him because I know he cannot beat Tinubu”, he explained.

He highlighted Tinubu’s political strength, noting that the president already has the support of over 30 governors. “Obi can’t win because he is not ready. The people who are more ready will win. A president who has 30-something governors supporting him… Asiwaju na immortal”, he added.

The comments come days after Cubana Chief Priest reportedly lost the APC House of Representatives primary in Imo State for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency, despite aiming to mobilise votes for Tinubu.

He explained on Instagram that he voluntarily stepped aside after consulting with Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, citing party zoning arrangements.
