June 27, (THEWILL) – Ahead of the 2023 national population and housing census, the National Population Commission has kicked off training of successful personnel for the exercise in Cross River State.
The training will run for twelve days and is designed to equip the field functionaries with required skills to effectively and efficiently deliver on the exercise.
Navy Captain, Charles Ogwa (rtd), Federal Commissioner representing Cross River State in the NPC, disclosed this in Calabar.
He said 110 persons, consisting of facilitators, supervisors and enumerators, drawn mainly from communities within the selected areas in the state were selected.
He disclosed that the Trial Census in the state will be conducted in one supervisory area, nine local government areas, with three selected from the three senatorial districts.
The areas to be covered are Bakassi, Calabar South, Odukpani for the Southern Senatorial District, while Yakurr, Obubra and Boki are selected for the Central Senatorial District.
For the Northern Senatorial District, the exercise will take place in Bekwarra, Ogoja and Obudu local government areas.
He assured that the commission is determined to successfully conduct the Trial Census in its quest to deliver a credible, reliable, acceptable and verifiable census to the nation.
The trial Census will be conducted from the 11th to 24th July, 2022, while the house numbering/listing will take place from 11th to 16th July, 2022.
This will be followed by the validation of Enumeration Areas from the 17th to 19th July, as well as enumeration of personnel from 20th to 24th July, 2022.
