March 04, (THEWILL) – Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has admitted to the level of uncertainty at the club after owner Roman Abramovich placed the club up for sale, while putting up a brave face about the club’s ability to adapt to how circumstances play out in the end.
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine last week altered the fortunes of the London club as swiftly changing concerns forced Abramovich to put the club up for sale, as THEWILL reported.
Answering questions on the prospects of the club and of the future of club director Marina Granovskaia in the immediate period ahead of his side’s Premier League clash with Burnley, Tuchel said: “I will not comment on speculation about that [Marina’s future].
“My communication with Petr [Cech] and Marina has been excellent from day one. Hopefully it stays on the same level with the same person – but if not we will have to adapt.”
The German manager again conceded that he had little control over the club’s current condition: “We had a briefing here the day after the [FA Cup] match from Petr, who gave everyone here in the building – including the players – a quick brief and explained the situation.
“It wasn’t too much that we didn’t already know so we have to live with this situation. It doesn’t make sense to worry too much because we don’t have a lot of influence, if any influence at all.”
Tuchel arrived at Stamford Bridge in January 2021 and only four months later led the club to Champions League glory.
