April 29, (THEWILL) – Boxing Legend, Mike Tyson, will face YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul in a sanctioned professional bout on July 20, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations, has officially sanctioned the 8-round heavyweight contest between the 57-year-old Tyson (50-6, 44KOs) and Paul (9-1, 6 KOs), who is 30 years younger.
The bout will stream live on Netflix and see Tyson return to the ring for the first time since his 2020 exhibition draw against Roy Jones Jr. With 14-ounce gloves and two-minute rounds, it marks the biggest age gap of 30 years between opponents in professional boxing history.
“Iron Mike” Tyson is one of the most feared heavyweight boxers ever, while the younger Paul has transitioned from YouTube fame to a prizefighting career. The sanctioned nature means the fight will count on both men’s pro records, rather than an exhibition with no official winner.
“Mike Tyson and Jake Paul signed to fight with the desire for a sanctioned pro bout with a definitive outcome,” said Nakisa Bidarian of Most Valuable Promotions. “Over six weeks we satisfied TDLR requirements to sanction Paul vs Tyson.”
The undercard features a rematch between lightweight champ Katie Taylor (23-1, 6 KOs) and seven-division champ Amanda Serrano (46-2-1, 30 KOs) after their April 2022 split decision.
