Prosecutors allege the teenager was last seen on April 23, 2025, after visiting Burke’s home in the Hollywood Hills. Her remains were discovered months later, in September 2025, inside the front trunk of a Tesla linked to Burke.

Authorities say he faces several charges, including murder with special circumstances such as “lying in wait”, murder for financial gain, and killing a witness.

He is also accused of sexual abuse of a minor and mutilation of a body.

Prosecutors claim Burke killed the girl to protect his music career after she threatened to expose their relationship.

His lawyers dispute this. They said the “actual evidence will show that David did not kill Celeste” and that he is not responsible for her death.

Burke was arrested on April 16, 2026, after a lengthy investigation. He is being held without bail. Prosecutors may seek the death penalty if he is found guilty.

The case has drawn strong public attention due to the seriousness of the allegations and Burke’s rapid rise in the music industry.

In a statement, the victim’s family said they are “committed to ensuring that Celeste’s voice is heard and her memory is honoured throughout this process.”

The investigation is ongoing, and a full coroner’s report has not yet been released.
