June 12, (THEWILL) – Renowned American character actor, Harris Yulin, known for his powerful performances in Scarface, Ghostbusters II, and numerous stage productions, has died at age 87.
Yulin passed away from cardiac arrest on June 10, 2025, in New York City, as confirmed by his family and manager, Sue Leibman.
With a career spanning five decades, Yulin appeared in over 100 films and television shows, including memorable roles in Training Day, Rush Hour 2, and Clear and Present Danger.
He was also a respected stage actor, appearing in Broadway productions of Hedda Gabler, The Diary of Anne Frank and Arthur Miller’s The Price and won a Lucille Lortel Award for directing The Trip to Bountiful
“Yulin was part of the vanguard of a generation that passionately cared about the craft of acting. This lifelong dedication led to extraordinary, resonant performances that were a gift to actors he worked with, audiences, and the art of acting itself”, Leibman said in her statement.
Leibman also noted that Yulin’s memorial arrangements will be announced at a later date.
Yulin leaves behind a legacy of unforgettable characters that captivated audiences across generations.
