
July 02, (THEWILL) — Popular Nollywood actor, Tom Njemanze, is in critical condition after being diagnosed with prostate cancer, prompting his colleagues in the film industry to rally public support for his treatment.
The veteran actor made an emotional appeal for financial assistance in a video that surfaced online on Monday.
The video, shared by actor and filmmaker, Stanley Ajemba, popularly known as Stanley Ontop, on Instagram, shows Njemanze hospitalised with an IV drip in his arm and an oxygen cylinder beside him as he appeals for support to cover his urgent medical expenses.
Stanley urged fans, friends, and well-wishers to contribute to Njemanze’s medical fund, emphasising that no amount is too small.
“Hello everyone, one of Nollywood’s legends is critically ill and needs immediate surgery. Sir Tom Njemanze has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and needs your support to undergo the procedure. Please help our legend recover. Donations can be sent to the account below”, Stanley wrote in his post, sharing the relevant bank details.
Tom Njemanze, a beloved figure from Nollywood’s golden era, is renowned for his roles in classics like Pounds and Dollars, Brain Box, Magic Cap, Twin Brothers, and Caesar to Caesar. His performance in Pounds and Dollars particularly endeared him to fans in the mid-2000s.
Stanley also posted a nostalgic throwback clip of Njemanze acting alongside Nollywood icons Nkem Owoh and the late Sam Loco Efe, sparking an outpouring of emotional tributes from fans and colleagues online.
