August 16, (THEWILL) –Â In their first game of their Serie A season on Monday, Juventus defeated Sassuolo 3-0 with two goals from Dusan Vlahovic.
Five minutes on each side of the half, the Serbian forward scored to give the Bianconeri the lead after Angel Di Maria had marked his Juventus debut at the Allianz Stadium with a goal. Despite not being at their best in possession, Massimiliano Allegri’s team converted on its opportunities to start off in an encouraging form.
Sassuolo gained initial confidence from the sluggish start of the hosts, as Mattia Perin, filling in for the injured Wojciech Szczesny, was forced into action to deny Gregoire Defrel not just once, but twice early on.
However, Juve recovered quickly and began to impose their strategy on the game before Di Maria, first, and the brace from Vlahovic finished off the game as a contest for the maximum points to Juve.
The Old Lady will travel to Marassi to play Sampdoria, while Sassuolo will play newly promoted Lecce on Saturday night in an effort to earn their first points of the new season.
