April 08, (THEWILL) – Nigeria’s Super Falcons coach, Randy Waldrum, is thrilled with the prospect of having Asisat Oshoala, Barcelona Femeni star, and Desire Oparanozie, 2014 WAFCON’s highest goal scorer, lead the team’s attack.
Despite being in good form for Wuhan Jianghan University, Oparanozie has been repeatedly omitted from the Super Falcons’ games for over two years due to shenanigans from the Nigeria Football Federation.
However, Oparanozie has now been invited to join the team for the upcoming friendlies against Haiti and New Zealand, and Waldrum is happy to have a full house for the games. He said: “I’m excited to see them playing together again and I’m anxious to see what they can bring, especially at a critical team when we are preparing for the World Cup, we must get a solid lineup.”
Oshoala and Oparanozie’s partnership has proven successful in the past, with the duo being the lynchpins for the team when they won the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in 2014, 2016, and 2018. As they gear up for the World Cup in July, the pair will look to use that partnership to keep the team playing at their best.
