October 24, (THEWILL) – Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has joined Norwich City’s first-team coaching staff under head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup. The appointment marks a significant step in Wilshere’s coaching career, following his role managing Arsenal’s Under-18s squad.
Wilshere brings substantial English Premier League experience to Norwich City, having made 197 appearances for Arsenal during his playing career. His achievements include two FA Cup victories and 34 England international caps. The former midfielder established himself at Arsenal after becoming their youngest-ever EPL player, making his debut aged 16 against Blackburn Rovers.
Following his retirement from professional football in 2022, Wilshere transitioned immediately into coaching with Arsenal’s youth setup. His initial season in management proved successful, guiding the Under-18s to the FA Youth Cup final in 2022/2023, demonstrating his capability to develop young talent.
“It is a fantastic opportunity at a very impressive club, and one which has come at the right time to progress my coaching career within a first-team environment,” Wilshere said. He specifically mentioned the quality of facilities at the training centre and expressed enthusiasm about working with the existing coaching staff and players.
