April 09, (THEWILL) — Nigerian Afrobeats stars, Wizkid and Burna Boy, have traded words following an alleged assault involving DJ Tunez.
DJ Tunez, who is Wizkid’s official disc jockey, was reportedly attacked at a private event in Lagos on Monday night. The reason for the confrontation remains unclear, but it is said to have started as a disagreement that quickly escalated before bystanders stepped in to separate those involved.
Following the incident, the Nigerian DJ Association (NDJ) announced a ban on Burna Boy’s music from playlists across the country.
Burna Boy later appeared in a viral video dancing and mocking the DJ, which sparked further reactions online.
Reacting on social media, Wizkid criticised Burna Boy, accusing him of attacking DJ Tunez with a group.
“Pussy nigga, jump a dj with 10 man carry diddy towel Dey dance. I never see a fool like this diddy babe for my life”, Wizkid wrote.
Burna Boy, however, denied acting with others. Speaking during a livestream, he admitted confronting DJ Tunez but said he acted alone.
“Shalli, no be 10 people touch that guy, na only me. I swear with my mama. If I dey lie, make Ogun carry my mama go anywhere wey Wizkid mama dey. Na only me – two slap na im I give am”, he said.
He added that if multiple people had attacked the DJ, the outcome would have been more serious.
Burna Boy also challenged Wizkid to a physical confrontation, dismissing his rival’s response on social media.
“Wizkid come go dey tweet. Na internet their own power dey. We na real life our own power dey. I thought DJ Tunez go call his oga, and his oga go do something or send people but na tweet Wizkid con dey tweet,” he said.
The controversy has continued to trend online, with fans reacting to the exchange between the two artists.
