May 20, (THEWILL) – World record holder and Adidas track athlete, Tobi Amusan, has achieved yet another milestone in her illustrious career by obtaining a Master’s degree in the United States.
The Nigerian athlete, known for her exceptional speed and agility, recently graduated from the University of Texas El Paso, where she had previously earned her first degree in Health Promotion & Minor in Nutrition back in 2019. This time, she emerged with a Master of Arts in Leadership Studies and Sports Management.
Amusan took to her Instagram page to share the exciting news, expressing her gratitude for the support she received throughout her academic journey. Despite the challenges she faced, the determined athlete managed to overcome them with the help of those around her, as she recounted on social media.
THEWILL recalls that in 2022, Amusan made headlines by becoming Nigeria’s first-ever world record holder in any track and field event. She etched her name in history by clinching the 100m Hurdles title in the World Championships with a remarkable time of 12.12s in the semi-finals and a wind-assisted 12.06s (2.6m/s) in the final. Adding to her list of accomplishments, she secured Commonwealth and Diamond League titles, defending both with record-breaking times of 12.30s (Games Record) and 12.29s (Meeting Record).
The 25-year-old athlete’s exceptional performances not only made her the first World Champion to win gold in the event but also the first Nigerian athlete to claim champion titles across all levels of athletics competitions in a single year.
