July 19, (THEWILL) – Mikel Arteta is continuing to reap from the benefits of his time at Manchester City and his fraternal relationship with his former club with news that Oleksandr Zinchenko will be moving to the Emirates.
The Ukrainian has agreed to personal terms on a contract that will keep him in north London until 2026, and he is scheduled to have a medical this week to finalise his £30 million transfer from Manchester City to Arsenal.
As THEWILL reported, both clubs reached a transfer agreement last Friday, and Monday saw the conclusion of negotiations with the player. Zinchenko was eager to collaborate once more with Arteta, who previously served as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at City.
Already, the English Premier League champions are making moves to cover for Zinchenko’s absence sign Marc Cucurella of Brighton Guardiola’s main target for the left back position. Moves are already at pace at City to ready a bid for him that will be tabled before Brighton.
It is another positive reinforcement for the Gunners as Zinchenko can play in several positions, including centre midfield, although at City he was primarily employed as a left-back. He will be following in the path of Gabriel Jesus and will arrive from City as Arteta’s second acquisition of the summer from the Etihad club.
