April 02, (THEWILL) — Nigerian actor and filmmaker Olaide Olabanji has accused actress Mercy Aigbe of ingratitude and hostility.
Speaking in a recent interview with media personality Oyinmomo, Olabanji said their relationship changed after Aigbe became successful in the Yoruba film industry.
He alleged that the actress now shows “wickedness” towards him and even “wishes he were dead.”
Olabanji said he discovered Aigbe in 2004 and helped her start her acting career.
“I saw her in a shop in 2004 and asked her if she could act. She said yes, and I put her on. I brought Mercy Aigbe into the movie industry. I helped her,” he said.
He added that their relationship has since broken down.
“Now she is blocking me. To her, it is as if I should no longer exist,” he said.
Olabanji expressed disappointment over how her attitude changed after fame.
While he has made similar claims about Aigbe’s “ingratitude” in the past, dating back to 2015, the issue has resurfaced.
He also compared her to actress Lola Alao, whom he said continues to show appreciation for his support.
Mercy Aigbe has not publicly responded to the allegations.
