Sam Neill

April 29, (THEWILL) — Hollywood actor Sam Neill says he is now cancer-free after battling stage-three blood cancer for five years.

The “Jurassic Park” star shared the update in an interview with 7News, revealing that a recent scan showed no signs of cancer.

“I’ve just had a scan just now, and there is no cancer in my body, that’s an extraordinary thing,” he said.

Neill, 78, had been living with a rare form of blood cancer, angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma.

He was treated with chemotherapy for several years before it stopped working.

“I’ve been living with a particular type of lymphoma for about five years,” he said, adding that when treatment failed, “it looked like I was on the way out.”

He later joined a clinical trial for CAR T-cell therapy, a treatment that uses modified immune cells to fight cancer. The therapy was successful.

He is currently advocating for wider availability of CAR T-cell therapy through his work with the Snowdome Foundation, as access remains limited and expensive in many regions.

Neill also said he is ready to return to acting. “It’s time I did another movie.”

He is set to appear in the upcoming film “Godzilla x Kong: Supernova”, scheduled for release in March 2027.

The actor first shared his diagnosis in his 2023 memoir, “Did I Ever Tell You This?”, and has since spoken openly about his experience.
