May 01, (THEWILL) — Nigerian singer and politician Banky W, alongside his wife, actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington, recently shared personal insights into their marriage and family life during an interview on The Teju Babyface Show.
Adesua opened up about her initial reservations before marrying Banky W, revealing that she had once told God she didn’t want to marry a musician, a pastor, or a politician.
“But God gave me all three,” she said with a laugh. Despite her earlier hesitation, she now fully embraces their life together.
Banky W reflected on how it took over a year for Adesua to confirm he was the one for her. He recalled a moment when she called him and simply said, “Banky, you know you’re my husband, right?”
The couple, who married in 2017, also discussed their painful fertility struggles.
After multiple IVF cycles, the loss of twins, and months of emotional hardship, they welcomed their first son, Zaiah, in 2021. Their second son, Hezekiah, was born recently.
Banky W described how witnessing Adesua endure these challenges reshaped his understanding of her strength.
“I’ve seen her endure things that would break people. I’ve seen her go through IVF cycle after IVF cycle, and when it wasn’t working, she’d get back on her feet and inject herself with whatever they said,” he said.
He spoke about his role in supporting Adesua during this difficult time, especially when she put her career on hold to focus on their family.
He also noted that it reshaped his approach to domestic life, including taking on household tasks like cooking without complaint.
The couple also emphasized how their fertility journey brought them closer to God. “The fertility journey brought us even closer,” Banky W shared.
Adesua acknowledged that their marriage has not always been easy but noted that the struggles they’ve faced have only strengthened their bond.
