February 18, (THEWILL) — Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Neo Akpofure, has threatened to sue a social media user over a rape allegation made against him on X (formerly Twitter).
The allegation was made by an X user identified as Ms Arikan Udoka, who operates the handle “@notralia.” In a now-deleted post shared on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, she claimed Neo sexually assaulted her while they were students at the University of Calabar.
“@NeoAkpofure is also a rapist. He raped me in UNICAL. He should come out and deny it. We were casual sex buddies with the clause that he wasn’t in a relationship. I found out he was and went to his apartment to confront him. So he raped me. Neo come and say you didn’t do it.”
Responding through his lawyers on Wednesday, the reality TV star described the accusation as “entirely false, malicious and defamatory” and issued a 48-hour ultimatum demanding a public retraction and apology.
Neo’s legal representatives argued that the post itself acknowledged a consensual sexual relationship but went on to accuse him of rape, which they described as “an extremely grave criminal offence.”
They maintained that the allegation portrays him “as a sexual offender and a criminal”, causing reputational damage and emotional distress.
The legal team demanded that the post be deleted from X and any other platform where it may have been shared, along with a clear public retraction, a public apology, and a written undertaking not to make further defamatory statements about him.
They warned that failure to comply within 48 hours would result in immediate legal proceedings for defamation.
The development comes amid heightened conversations on social media about sexual assault, with several users sharing personal experiences online.
