March 12, (THEWILL) — Nollywood actress, Nkechi Blessing Sunday, has spoken out about the ongoing debate surrounding women’s bodies and cosmetic surgery.

In a video shared on social media, the actress called out men who once mocked women over their body shape, but now advise them to embrace their natural appearance.

According to her, years of insults and body shaming have pushed many women toward cosmetic procedures, including the Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL).

“You people mocked women for years because of their bodies, but now you are the same ones telling them to love themselves the way they are”, she said.

Blessing argued that constant criticism about women not having certain body features, such as bigger backsides, has contributed to the growing interest in body enhancement surgeries.

Her comments come amid renewed debate about cosmetic surgery, following the reported death of Nigerian socialite, Elena Jessica, after complications from a BBL procedure.

The actress also made it clear that she has no intention of altering her body because of public opinion.

“This body is my hard work and the success I have achieved”, she said.

Blessing added that women should be free to decide what they want to do with their bodies without judgement.

She noted that if she ever considers surgery, it would only be for weight-loss purposes and not enhancement procedures such as BBL.
