Bovi, Nomzamo Recreate Viral Funke-Toyin Snub

May 10, (THEWILL) — Comedian Bovi Ugboma and South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha sparked reactions after recreating the viral Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham snub moment during the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).

The duo performed the comedy skit on Saturday while hosting the award ceremony in Lagos.

The skit referenced a viral moment from the March 2026 premiere of “The Return of Arinzo,” where Funke Akindele appeared to ignore Toyin Abraham during an exchange that later sparked conversations online.

In the reenactment, Nomzamo played Funke Akindele, while Bovi acted as Toyin Abraham, repeatedly calling out, “Aunty Funke, aunty Funke!”

The performance ended with Bovi joking, “If I ever present an award to you, call me a bastard,” drawing loud laughter from the audience.

The original incident fueled speculation about tension between the two actresses, with fans later noticing that both stars unfollowed each other on social media.

Toyin Abraham, however, appeared to take the joke lightly. After the event, she approached Bovi and admitted she expected him to reference the incident, adding that she found the skit funny.
