November 14, (THEWILL) — Fans at Burna Boy’s Denver concert on Wednesday night were thrown into shock after the Grammy-winning star abruptly paused his performance to confront a couple he accused of sleeping during his set.
The interruption occurred midway through the show when Burna Boy spotted the pair seated close to the stage.
Visibly irritated, he singled them out and asked the male fan to escort his girlfriend out of the venue, insisting her lack of engagement was dampening the energy in the hall.
“When I stand up here and see you over there with your girl sleeping in front of me, it pisses me off. So please, take her home… Walahi, I’m not performing another song till you go home,” he declared, drawing a mix of cheers and murmurs from the crowd.
Though the couple initially hesitated, the audience soon began chanting for their exit.
They eventually stood up and left, prompting Burna Boy to resume his set to thunderous applause.
The moment, captured by several fans, quickly went viral and ignited a heated debate online.
While some defended Burna Boy, saying he is known for demanding high energy at his shows, others faulted his approach as unnecessary and disrespectful.
The Denver stop is part of Burna Boy’s ongoing North American tour, which has continued to record sold-out shows across major cities.
