December 18, (THEWILL) — Nigerian content creator and musician Oderhohwo Efe, popularly known as Carter Efe, has become Africa’s most-followed streamer on Twitch, surpassing fellow Nigerian creator Shank Comics.
The milestone followed a high-profile livestream on Wednesday featuring Afrobeats star Davido, which attracted a large audience and led to a rapid rise in followers.
Data reviewed on Thursday showed that Efe’s channel grew from about 322,000 to over 406,000 followers after the Davido stream.
The live stream attracted about 83,000 viewers at its peak, making it the most-watched Twitch stream in Africa.
Efe also became the first African streamer to surpass 20,000 subscribers on the platform.
During the broadcast, Davido made live calls to notable figures, including footballer Victor Osimhen, and encouraged support for Efe, further boosting the event’s visibility.
The stream quickly sparked widespread reactions on social media and marked a significant moment for the growth of African live streaming on Twitch.
