April 08, (THEWILL) — Nigerian disc jockey, Michael Babatunde Adeyinka, popularly known as DJ Tunez, has addressed his reported clash with Grammy‑winning artiste, Burna Boy.
A video of the incident, which went viral, showed the two men exchanging punches at a private Lagos event on Monday. The confrontation reportedly began as a disagreement that quickly escalated, with bystanders stepping in to separate them.
Following the altercation, the Nigerian DJ Association (NDJ) announced a temporary ban on Burna Boy’s music across DJ playlists nationwide, emphasising the need for professionalism and respect within the DJ community. The association also said an investigation will determine the next steps.
DJ Tunez took to X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday to share his side, saying he was outnumbered.
“This N*gga Burna Boy, all signs of weakness. First off, you hit me in the back of my head without me looking, that’s some sucka sht my boy. 1 vs 10 and I stood my ground. That’s why you collected as well, when I defended myself,” he wrote.
The exact cause of the dispute remains unclear.
In response, Burna Boy posted a video in which he danced to DJ Tunez’s song “Money Constant”, altering the lyrics from “Ogbafia dey my side” to “Ogbafia dey for ground”, a move widely interpreted as a jab at DJ Tunez.
