June 02, (THEWILL) — Nigerian media personality, Do2dtun, has urged Nigerians not to rely on celebrities to speak out on insecurity before taking a stand themselves.

In a post shared on X on Tuesday, June 2, Do2dtun said public figures often face criticism whether they choose to speak up or remain silent on national issues.

“The ones that speak up, you bash them into depression… you have insulted them into oblivion”, he wrote, adding that some celebrities have chosen to stay away from such conversations to protect their peace.

He stressed that holding leaders accountable should not be left to a select group of people.

“Let everyone use their platform. Nigeria does not treat them differently. It is not JUST their duty to hold the government accountable. It is our DUTY. Face the ones that sold you out”, he stated.

Do2dtun also argued that fear and trauma have made many Nigerians focus on blaming others instead of addressing the real issues.

“Nigerians, we are our biggest problem. We are so traumatized that we only look for people to attack over a disease that affects us all. We look for the cure with the wrong people in the wrong places… If you want something so badly, you won’t wait for a set of people to lead you”, he added.

He further criticised those who attack people using their platforms to raise awareness while doing little themselves.

“What’s sickening is you will see people that don’t do anything with their platforms but attack those that do. It’s HYPOCRISY of the highest order”, he said.

His comments come amid growing public frustration over insecurity and renewed debates about the role of celebrities and influencers in speaking out on national issues.
