BEVERLY HILLS, November 30, (THEWILL) –Â In an exhibition of the essence of the FA Cup, current table-topping English Premier League side Tottenham will play non-league Marine in the third round of the FA Cup.
An eighth-tier club, Marine qualified for this after their second-round victory over Havant & Waterlooville. Defending champions Arsenal will host Premier League competition in Newcastle United, while Liverpool will have their humiliating 7-2 loss to Aston Villa earlier on this season at the back of their minds when they meet.
The Manchester clubs, United and City, will play hosts against Championship clubs, with the Red Devils hosting Watford and Pep Guardiola’s team welcoming Birmingham City.
London-based Chelsea are also at home to League Two side Morecambe, Leeds United head to Crawley Town and fifth-tier side Stockport County will host West Ham.
All next round matches are billed to be played over the weekend of January 9 and 10. Traditional replays have been scrapped due to the impact of COVID-19 on the scheduling of matches. Instead, extra time and penalties will be used to settle any ties that are level after 90 minutes.
The final is due to take place on May 15.
