June 11 (THEWILL) — Actor and former wrestler, Dwayne Johnson, has revealed that he faced a testicular cancer scare earlier this year after discovering a painful lump on one of his testicles.

In a recent interview with Esquire, Johnson said he visited his doctor after noticing the lump. The doctor told him it was likely epididymitis, an inflammation of a tube behind the testicle, but warned that it could also be cancer.

The scare came while Johnson was preparing for a promotional event for “Jumanji: Open World” at CinemaCon in April, ahead of the film’s release in December.

“So I had to live with that for those 24 hours, not knowing — and I had to be on all day, joking around, making speeches”, he said.

An ultrasound the following day confirmed that the lump was not cancerous.

“By the way: I’m fine,” Johnson added. “But I didn’t know that then, and the thing was really painful.”

He also revealed that he did not tell his wife, Lauren Hashian, about the scare until he received the results because he did not want to worry her.

Johnson shared the experience while promoting Disney’s live-action adaptation of “Moana”, in which he reprises his role as the demigod. Maui.

The film is set to be released in U.S. theatres on July 10.
