April 03, (THEWILL) — Federal prosecutors have alleged that rapper Gucci Mane was kidnapped and robbed during a meeting at a music studio in Dallas.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), the incident took place on 10 January 2024 and involved nine suspects, including rappers Pooh Shiesty and Big30.
Prosecutors said three music industry professionals travelled to Dallas for a meeting arranged by Pooh Shiesty, linked to discussions about a recording contract.
When they arrived at the studio, the suspects allegedly carried out an armed takeover.
Prosecutors say Pooh Shiesty used an AK-style firearm to force Gucci Mane, identified as “R.D.” in court documents, to sign a release from his contract with 1017 Records.
Other suspects allegedly pointed guns at the victims and stole luxury items, including Rolex watches, jewellery, cash, and designer goods. One victim was reportedly choked, while Big30 is accused of blocking the door to prevent anyone from leaving.
Eight of the nine suspects have been arrested in operations across Dallas, Memphis, and Nashville. One suspect is still at large.
Investigators said some stolen items were later posted on social media, helping link suspects to the crime.
Pooh Shiesty, a former artist on Gucci Mane’s 1017 label, was released from prison in October 2025 after serving time on a gun charge. Prosecutors say he was on home detention at the time, which barred him from possessing weapons, and that his father helped plan the attack.
Trial dates have not yet been announced. If convicted, the suspects could face serious federal sentences, including life in prison.
