December 15, (THEWILL) – Brila FM, Nigeria’s first sports station owned by veteran broadcaster, Larry Izamoje, is enmeshed in a huge fraud scandal amounting to N150 million.
The fraud was perpetrated by some current staff and former employees.
The Sports radio management discovered the criminal diversion by some of these individuals who established a similar company to manipulate the internal system through invoice fabrication, system manipulation and receival of payments leading to the loss of over N150 million over the last couple of years.
The heist was uncovered in June prompting the management to set up an internal investigation that later unraveled the criminal activities leading to the matter being referred to the appropriate authority in August.
Subsequently, some suspects were invited by law enforcement agents, interrogated, and confessions made with some of them even making pledges to make restitution back to the company.
But some indicted members of the syndicate are yet to make themselves available for interrogation. The management had initially decided to handle the matter without any undue publicity by allowing security operatives to carry out their thorough investigation to identify the culprits and not punish innocent staff members, however, some individuals within and outside the organization in the last two months proceeded to launch a series of digital attacks and blackmail on the media group and its founder, in other to project the media group as insensitive and anti-employee and in the process, mitigate their criminal exposure in order to escape justice.
But the company is not giving in to the blackmails and has vowed to see justice served.
