April 08, (THEWILL) — Grammy-winning country singer Ray Stevens is recovering after breaking his neck in a fall late last month. He is 87.
Stevens’ team released a statement on April 7, 2026, confirming that he suffered the fall on March 29 and was briefly hospitalized in the Nashville area before returning home. Doctors have advised him to wear a neck brace for about four weeks.
Despite the injury, Stevens is said to be recovering well.
“He remains fully mobile & in good spirits,” the statement read.
The accident has not affected the release of his upcoming album, “Favorites Old & New”, which is scheduled for release on April 10 via Curb Records.
The 13-track project features a mix of classic songs and new material, including standards such as “The Look of Love,” “It Had To Be You,” and “Come Rain or Come Shine,” alongside newer songs from various songwriters.
Speaking about the album, Stevens said:
“I had a lot of fun creating this album, Favorites Old & New. It really does contain a few of my favorite old songs as well as favorite new ones penned by some talented writers. I just hope Ray Stevens fans enjoy it as much as Ray Stevens!”
Stevens, known for hits like “Everything Is Beautiful” and “The Streak,” has had a long career marked by humour and social commentary.
