January 30, (THEWILL) — Alexer Pere, the ex-wife of Nigerian singer, Harrysong, has announced her decision to temporarily give up custody of their two children, aged 4 and 3.
In an emotional video shared on her Instagram story on Thursday, Alexer described the decision as the hardest of her life. She said she has been under intense emotional pressure since separating from the singer two years ago.
“I didn’t plan to come on here, but I want this to serve as evidence that I’m making the hardest decision of my life. At this point, I have no option”, she said.
Alexer explained that she has been the primary caregiver for the children since the separation. According to her, the children attend school from her home and only visit their father occasionally.
“I’ve been doing my best for my kids. They visit their dad and school from my place. It’s been two years”, she stated.
She accused Harrysong of constant harassment and interference in her life, saying the emotional strain had become unbearable.
Alexer also revealed that her ex-husband recently filed a petition against her, which she said contains false claims. She noted that she would respond when the time is right.
She raised concerns about the children’s welfare, claiming their father is often away and that they may be left with domestic staff.
“Yes, you want to take my kids to go and live with your househelp because, since I rejected your offer for me to come back, you want to frustrate me.”
Explaining her decision to hand over custody, Alexer said the move was temporary and not a sign of defeat.
“I am going to give him custody, for now. That doesn’t mean I am not going to come back for my children”, she said.
She further alleged that Harrysong threatened to make life difficult for her in Asaba, where she previously lived, forcing her to relocate to Lagos.
Alexer added that she was making the decision for her own well-being and ended the video by saying she would fight for her children when she is emotionally ready.
Harrysong and Alexer Pere got married in March 2021 and have two children together.
