June 28, (THEWILL) –Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Emmy-winning journalist Lauren Sanchez tied the knot on Friday in a glamorous, private ceremony on San Giorgio Island in Venice, Italy.
The lavish event drew a constellation of A-list guests, including Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates, members of the Kardashian-Jenner clan, and Ivanka Trump with her husband Jared Kushner. Other notable attendees were Orlando Bloom, Usher, and retired NFL star Tom Brady.
The couple, who got engaged in 2023, exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony with a picturesque view of St. Mark’s Square, followed by a high-profile reception marked by elegance and exclusivity.
However, the celebration was not without controversy.
The influx of luxury yachts and private jets sparked backlash from local residents and environmental activists, who criticised the event for contributing to over-tourism and pollution in the already fragile lagoon city.
Despite the protests, the ceremony went ahead as planned, marking a new chapter in the relationship between one of the world’s richest men and his longtime partner.
