April 01 (THEWILL) – Juventus managed to clinch a narrow victory against Hellas Verona in their latest Serie A outing on Saturday.
Moise Kean scored the only goal of the game to secure Juve’s fifth straight win in all competitions. Ondrej Duda and Gleison Bremer had early chances for Verona, while Fabio Depaoli came agonizingly close to scoring a spectacular volley.
Juventus, however, went even closer to scoring through a smart free-kick routine. Unfortunately, Milik’s back-heel flick was deflected onto the frame of the goal. It took a well-worked passing move between Fabio Miretti and Manuel Locatelli to break the deadlock, with Kean finishing off the move to sweep past Lorenzo Montipò from eight yards. The goal proved to be decisive as Juventus held on to secure a narrow win.
Despite the victory, there were concerns for Juventus as Kean received a booking for a lunge. The yellow card means that he will be suspended for the next round against Lazio. Juventus should have put the game beyond doubt in the 86th minute when Bremer somehow shinned the ball wide from a yard, but they managed to hold on for the win.
As Verona pushed forward in search of an equalizer, Juve manager Max Allegri stormed off in a rage before the final whistle. He will hopefully be back when they take on Inter Milan on Tuesday in the Coppa Italia. Verona are against Sassuolo on Saturday.
