April 15, (THEWILL) — Kanye West has postponed his upcoming concert in Marseille “until further notice,” as pressure mounts from French authorities over his past controversial remarks.
The show had been scheduled for June 11 at the Orange Vélodrome stadium.
“After much thought and consideration, it is my sole decision to postpone my show in Marseille, France until further notice,” West wrote on X.
He added: “I know it takes time to understand the sincerity of my commitment to make amends. I take full responsibility for what’s mine but I don’t want to put my fans in the middle of it.
“My fans are everything to me. Looking forward to the next shows.”
The decision comes amid reports that France’s Interior Minister, Laurent Nunez, was considering blocking the concert.
Marseille mayor Benoit Payan had also publicly opposed the event, saying the city should not host artists who promote “hatred and unapologetic Nazism.”
The postponement follows a similar development in the UK, where West was recently denied entry ahead of his scheduled headline appearance at Wireless Festival.
The UK Home Office said his presence would not be “conducive to the public good,” leading to the festival’s cancellation.
West has faced widespread backlash in recent years over a series of antisemitic and pro-Nazi comments, including statements made in 2022 and the release of a controversial track titled “Heil Hitler” in 2025.
In January, the rapper issued a public apology, stating: “I am not a Nazi or an antisemite. I love Jewish people,” and attributed his past behaviour to personal and mental health struggles.
Despite the controversy, West had planned a wider European tour this summer, with dates listed across several countries.
The Marseille show is the latest to be affected as concerns about his appearances continue to grow.
