April 15, (THEWILL) — Pop singer Katy Perry is under investigation by Victoria Police in Australia following a historical sexual assault allegation made by actress Ruby Rose.
Victoria Police confirmed that detectives from the Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) are investigating an alleged incident said to have taken place at a licensed venue in Melbourne’s CBD in 2010.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and declined to provide further details.
Rose first made the allegation in posts on social media, claiming the incident occurred at a Melbourne nightclub when she was in her twenties.
She later confirmed she had filed reports with police and said she would not comment further while the investigation continues.
Rose also said she was stepping back from public discussion during the process.
Perry has denied the allegation through her representatives, who described the claims as “categorically false” and “dangerous, reckless lies.”
No charges have been filed, and the matter remains under investigation.
