June 18 (THEWILL) — American rapper, Lil Nas X, has revealed that he has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
The singer shared the update in an Instagram video on Wednesday, June 17, saying he spent several months in rehab and is now focused on his recovery.
Lil Nas X said he had suspected for years that he might have bipolar disorder, but did not want to accept the diagnosis because he feared taking medication and worried people would “think different” of him.
The 27-year-old said he is now working with a therapist and psychiatrist, both of whom have helped him navigate his mental health journey.
“But on a serious note, I’m doing much better, I’m feeling better, I’m creating freely, and there’s less fear in my heart, and I’m just smelling the roses,” he said.
He also thanked fans for their support and said he is excited about the future, adding that new music is on the way.
The singer largely stepped away from the spotlight following his arrest in Los Angeles in August 2025 after police responded to reports of a man walking in only underwear in the street.
He later pleaded not guilty to multiple felony charges, including battery on a police officer, and was placed in a court-approved mental health treatment programme. Under the agreement, the charges will be dismissed if he completes the programme and obeys all laws for the next two years.
The Grammy-winning artist, known for hits such as “Old Town Road,” “Industry Baby,” and “Montero (Call Me By Your Name),” is now preparing for the next chapter of his music career.
