April 01, (THEWILL) – Inter Milan’s struggles in Serie A continue as they suffered their third consecutive defeat with a 1-0 loss to Fiorentina at San Siro on Saturday.
The visitors took the lead through Giacomo Bonaventura’s second-half header shortly after Romelu Lukaku missed a golden opportunity to put Inter ahead. Despite Nicolo Barella’s effort hitting the crossbar, Inter failed to find the equaliser and suffered their 10th league defeat of the season.
The game saw both teams missing clear chances to score. Andre Onana, Inter’s goalkeeper, made a diving save to keep out Gaetano Castrovilli’s bouncing volley, followed by a quick punch to keep out the rebound. While Jonathan Ikone missed a chance for Fiorentina seven minutes before the interval with the goal at his mercy.
Inter’s Lukaku fluffed a glorious opportunity yards from the goal after Alessandro Bastoni’s pass. Inter will now face Juventus in the first leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final on Tuesday.
Inter Milan’s losing streak extended to their worst in Serie A in six years, suffering their third consecutive defeat against Fiorentina.
