Nollywood Actress Doris Ogala Demands ₦1bn From Pastor Chris Okafor Over Alleged Broken Marriage Promise

December 18, (THEWILL) — Nollywood actress, Doris Ogala, has demanded ₦1 billion in damages from Pastor Chris Okafor, the founder of Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry (also known as Grace Nation International or Liberation City), over what her lawyers say is a broken promise to marry.

In a letter to Pastor Okafor, her lawyers warned that legal action would be taken if he did not respond within 21 days.

According to the letter, the actress and the pastor were in a personal relationship that began in 2017, during which he allegedly made a “clear, consistent, and unequivocal” promise to marry her.

Her lawyers say this promise was supported by his actions, including introducing her to his family and appearing in public together.

Ogala’s lawyers claim she suffered harm by relying on the promise, including leaving a troubled marriage and making significant life decisions based on assurances of marriage.

The letter also states that she gave Pastor Okafor ₦45 million in a single transaction connected to their relationship.

The lawyers argue that Pastor Okafor’s public announcement of his engagement to another woman broke his promise and caused Ogala emotional distress and reputational harm. They also say she has faced public scrutiny, online harassment, and victim‑shaming as a result.

The legal notice demands ₦1 billion in general and aggravated damages for emotional trauma, reputational damage, and financial loss. It warns that failure to comply within 21 days will result in court action.

Pastor Okafor has yet to respond to the allegations.
