November 28, (THEWILL) – The Nigeria Premier Football League has summoned Shooting Stars Sports Club Technical Manager, Gbenga Ogunbote, to an investigative hearing following comments made after a Matchday 12 fixture in Lagos.
The league body issued a formal invitation, citing potential breaches of the established Code of Conduct for NPFL Coaches.
In an official communication dated November 2024, the NPFL detailed specific concerns regarding Ogunbote’s media statements, which allegedly cast aspersions on match officials and the league’s governance structure.
The invitation, signed by Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi, emphasises the potential detrimental impact of these remarks on the reputation of the league and its stakeholders.
The disciplinary committee has mandated Ogunbote to appear before it on Tuesday, December 3, at 10:00 am.
The hearing will take place at the NPFL Secretariat located in the Jabi district of Abuja.
The league also stated that the technical manager may present relevant evidence or representation to support his position during the proceedings.
The invitation requires Ogunbote to confirm his attendance on or before Friday.
