March 27, (THEWILL) — Chief Sunday Esan, CEO of Okiki Films and Records International, has unveiled the Okiki Films Village, a seven‑acre film production site in Ibadan, Oyo State. The site is located at Idi Ori, Onidundu, in Akinyele Local Government Area.
Designed to promote African culture and indigenous storytelling, the village combines traditional mud houses and ancient symbolic structures to create an authentic backdrop for film projects.
Esan said the site is meant to preserve and showcase African heritage while serving as a hub for epic productions and cultural storytelling. He shared photos and videos of the development on his Instagram page.
In a statement, he wrote:
“A new chapter has begun for indigenous storytelling as Okiki unveils his Films Village — a sacred creative space rooted in African heritage and tradition.”
He added:
“From mud houses to ancient symbols, every detail reflects the depth of our roots and the beauty of our traditions. OKIKI FILMS VILLAGE will serve as a home for epic productions, where filmmakers can tell authentic stories that resonate across generations…. a new era of African cinema rises—bold, original, and deeply rooted. The story of our people continues… now with a place to truly call home.”
The unveiling has drawn praise from Yoruba Nollywood stars and other actors and filmmakers in the industry, who celebrated it as a significant boost for authentic African narratives.
