April 01, (THEWILL) – Gift Orban was in his typical fine form on Saturday as he led KAA Gent to a resounding 5-0 victory over RFC Seraing.
The Nigerian striker netted a brace, his ninth and 10th goals since making his Jupiler Pro League debut in February, and was also involved in two other goals. Orban’s impressive performance takes his tally to 14 goals in 11 games since his arrival at Gent.
The first half of the match was tight, with Orban’s 16th-minute strike the only goal. However, the floodgates opened in the second half, with Orban scoring his second just six minutes after the restart. He then turned provider, setting up Hugo Cuypers to make it 3-0. Jordan Torunarigha added a fourth before Cuypers scored his second of the night to complete the rout.
The win sees Gent solidify their position as the fourth-best team in the Belgian Pro League with just three games left to be played. Orban’s outstanding form will be a huge boost for the team as they aim to finish the season on a high.
