BEVERLY HILLS, November 01, (THEWILL) – Asisat Oshoala was on the score sheet as Barcelona silenced Real Betis 5-0 in Saturday’s Spanish Primera Iberdrola tie.

Barcelona, who had earlier whomped Sporting Huelva 6-nil, went to the Ciudad Deportiva Luis de Sol where they continued to maintain their high-flying start with the fourth win of the season at Betis.

It took sixteen minutes from the start against Betis for Barca to break the deadlock. The Norwegian Caroline Graham Hansen put Lluís Cortés’ side ahead, with a piece of individual brilliance, firing past Meline Gerard in goal for Betis.

Eleven minutes later, Spaniard Mariona Caldentey was set up by midfielder Aitana Bonmati to double the lead for the visitors.

In the second period, Caldentey turned provider. She played Oshoala through to add a third of the match for Barcelona just two minutes after the restart.

Pier Luigi Cherubino’s team rallied to avoid letting in any more. It lasted until the 80th minute. And it was a Jenna McCormick’s own goal that gave the visitors their fourth goal.

Barca substitute Spanish forward Jenni Hermoso wrapped up the one-sided goal-fest for Cortes’ team with a Hansen assist two minutes from regulation time.

Oshoala featured for 70 minutes before being substituted for Spanish midfielder Vicky Losada. The Nigerian forward has now scored two goals in four matches this season for Barcelona.

This is Barcelona’s fourth win in a row and it means they maintain a three-point gap ahead of Madrid’s CFF at the top of the log with 12 points from four matches.

Barcelona next welcome Rayo Vallecano to the Estadi Johan Cruyff on Wednesday, while Real Betis will hope to end their winless run away at Sporting Huelva on the same day.
