November 07, (THEWILL) — The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has clarified the circumstances surrounding the arrest and remand of Samuel Ojeogwu, popularly known as Sammy West, the brother of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels.
Ojeogwu was reportedly arrested in Lagos last week and transported to Abuja. His sister had earlier taken to social media to raise concerns, alleging that the police acted unfairly and suggesting that the case was linked to her marital issues with her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko.
However, in a statement on Friday, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said the arrest followed due process. She explained that Ojeogwu had repeatedly failed to honour police invitations after a formal petition was filed against him.
“On October 28, 2025, the FCT Metro Area Command received a petition against one Mr. Samuel Ojeogwu and three others, alleging criminal conspiracy, trespass, assault, criminal intimidation, theft, and cyberbullying.
“Upon receipt of the petition, several invitations were extended to Mr. Ojeogwu for questioning, which were not honoured. He was subsequently arrested in Lagos on the authority of a duly issued warrant from a competent court and conveyed to Abuja for further investigation,” Adeh stated.
She added that the case had been concluded and charged in court.
“Upon the conclusion of investigations, the suspect was charged on November 6, 2025, in court for offences bordering on criminal conspiracy, trespass, assault, intimidation, and theft. He has been remanded pending the fulfilment of his bail conditions,” she added.
As of the time of filing this report, Senator Ned Nwoko has not issued any statement regarding the matter.
