May 20, (THEWILL) — Australian pop star, Kylie Minogue, has revealed she was diagnosed with cancer for a second time in early 2021. She spoke about it for the first time in her new Netflix documentary, “Kylie”, released May 20.
“My second cancer diagnosis was in early 2021. I was able to keep that to myself … Not like the first time. Thankfully, I got through it. Again. And all is well … my passion for music is greater than ever”, she said.
Minogue said she waited to share the news because she was “just a shell of a person” after treatment.
She also emphasised the importance of routine health checks. “Early detection was very helpful, and I am so grateful to be able to say that I am well today”, she added.
Minogue first battled breast cancer in 2005, pausing her “Showgirl” tour and withdrawing from Glastonbury Festival. After successful treatment, she returned to music, achieving hits such as “2 Hearts”, “Wow”, and “In My Arms”, and continuing her career as a pop icon.
The documentary also features interviews with her sister Dannii Minogue and former duet partners Jason Donovan and Nick Cave.
“Kylie” is now streaming on Netflix.
