Despite a bright start from Valladolid, Madrid quickly showed their dominance with a 22nd-minute counter-attack resulting in Rodrygo’s goal. Karim Benzema scored a first-half hat-trick before adding a fourth with an acrobatic finish. Madrid rounded off the win with goals from Marco Asensio and Lucas Vazquez.
While the victory does not change their position in La Liga, with a 12-point gap to leaders Barcelona, it will provide a much-needed confidence boost ahead of the crucial Cup tie. With Barcelona in good form and Atletico Madrid also in the mix, it will be a tough fight for Madrid to reclaim the league title.
