February 03, (THEWILL) — Renowned American gospel singer, songwriter, worship leader, and pastor, Ron Kenoly, has died at the age of 81.
The news was confirmed on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, by his longtime music director, Bruno Miranda, in a statement shared on Ron Kenoly’s official Instagram page.
The cause of death was not disclosed.
Kenoly was widely regarded as one of the pioneers of contemporary praise and worship music. He rose to global prominence in the 1990s and became known for his energetic live worship recordings.
Born on December 6, 1944, in Coffeyville, Kansas, Kenoly gained international recognition with his 1992 album ‘Lift Him Up’.
Songs such as ‘Ancient of Days’, ‘Jesus Is Alive’, and ‘We’re Going Up’, became popular worship songs in churches around the world.
Over the course of his career, he released more than 20 albums and influenced worship music globally.
He also served as a pastor and worship leader at Jubilee Christian Centre in San Jose, California.
