December 15, (THEWILL) — Nick Reiner, the son of filmmaker and actor Rob Reiner, was arrested Monday on suspicion of murdering his parents.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that Nick Reiner, 32, was taken into custody on Sunday evening and formally booked into a Los Angeles County jail on Monday, December 15, following the deaths of Rob Reiner, 78, and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner.

The couple was found dead inside their Brentwood, Los Angeles, home on Sunday.

Police said the bodies were discovered by the couple’s youngest daughter, Romy Reiner.

Nick Reiner is being held on $4 million bail, and police have issued a search warrant for the Reiner home.

Investigators said there were no signs of forced entry at the residence and that both victims suffered injuries consistent with stab wounds.

Police declined to release further details, citing the ongoing investigation.

Family friends, who requested anonymity, told local media that Rob Reiner and his son had an argument on Saturday evening at a Christmas party and that Nick appeared to be acting unusually.

The friends also said Nick Reiner had been living in a guesthouse on his parents’ property and that his mother had recently expressed concerns about his mental health.

Nick Reiner has spoken publicly in the past about long-term struggles with drug addiction.

He has also described periods of instability, including time spent in and out of rehabilitation programs and experiencing homelessness earlier in his life.

He has worked as a screenwriter and co-wrote the 2016 film Being Charlie, which was directed by his father and was based in part on his personal experiences.
