April 23, (THEWILL) — American music executive Sean “Diddy” Combs has lost his $100 million defamation lawsuit against NBCUniversal and Peacock over the documentary “Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy.”
On April 20, 2026, a New York Supreme Court judge dismissed the case, ruling that Combs failed to prove the company acted “grossly irresponsibly” in publishing the film.
The judge said the documentary could not have further damaged his reputation, noting it was already severely “tarnished” by existing criminal indictments, documented domestic violence allegations, and multiple lawsuits before the film’s release.
She also described the documentary as “carefully curated and nuanced,” saying it included Combs’ denials and presented multiple perspectives for viewers.
NBCUniversal welcomed the ruling, saying it protects journalists and filmmakers and that the case had no merit.
The documentary, released in January 2025, includes interviews with people connected to Combs, including former associates and employees.
Combs had argued that the film was damaging and contained false claims.
NBCUniversal said his reputation was already widely affected by prior public allegations and legal cases.
Combs is currently serving a 50-month prison sentence after being convicted on charges related to transporting individuals for prostitution.
His release date is listed as April 15, 2028.
The case has been dismissed.
