May 08, (THEWILL) — Colombian superstar, Shakira, has announced that her song “Dai Dai”, featuring Nigerian Afrobeats star, Burna Boy, will be the official song for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Shakira shared a 67-second teaser of the track on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from Brazil’s Maracanã Stadium. In the clip, she dances in a yellow top and blue skirt, Colombia’s national colours, alongside a group of dancers, with footballs scattered across the pitch. The teaser ends with fireworks and a message on the stadium roof that reads, “We Are Ready”.

In a post, Shakira wrote: “From Maracanã Stadium, here is ‘Dai Dai’, the @FIFAWorldCup Official Song 2026. Coming 5/14. We’re ready! @burnaboy.”

The full song will be released on May 14, ahead of the tournament’s opening match on June 11 in Mexico City.

This marks Shakira’s second official World Cup anthem after “Waka Waka” (This Time for Africa) for the 2010 tournament in South Africa. She also contributed “La La La” (Brazil 2014) for the 2014 tournament, which she performed at the closing ceremony in Rio de Janeiro.

Burna Boy becomes the second Nigerian artist to feature on a FIFA World Cup official song, following Davido in 2022. He has also performed at UEFA Champions League events and participated in other major international collaborations.

It is unclear whether he will perform live at the 2026 opening ceremony or the final in New Jersey on July 19.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be held from June 11 to July 19 and, for the first time, will be co-hosted by three countries: the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
